Clothing Donations - How You Can Help

How often have you opened your closet or drawers and seen a room full of unused clothes? It is probably more often than you would like to admit. We all have the same problem. It is just that some of us are worse off than others when it comes time to the number of items we have just sitting around gathering dust. Well, there is a way to reduce the amount of unwanted clothes while helping others at the same time, and that is clothing donations.

There are several great ways for you to donate those clothes you no longer wear any more that will help so many people who are less fortunate and in dire need for them. Here are just a few good ideas.

1. Garage Sale - This is the most obvious way that most people try to get rid of clothes. They throw them up in a garage sale and make a quarter or so off of it. Here is an idea that will put a different spin on things. Instead of marking each and every item and trying to figure out prices, how about just giving it away? Let people have what they need. Not only will you get rid of all the clothes, but you will bless so many others at the same time and feel great about doing it as well. I do this every year and you wouldn't believe how thankful folks are.

2. Goodwill - There are several charitable organizations that will be happy to take clothing donations that are in good condition. Places like Goodwill have drop-off locations all around town to make things even easier for you to drop off those unwanted clothes.

3. Churches - You can call churches in your area and find several of them that will welcome your clothing donation with open arms. Many churches especially like coats, shoes and other household items that help families stay warm during the winter.

4. Private schools - In some cases you will find private schools that could use clothing for various projects, such as art classes, costumes for school plays and many other things as well.

Throwing your old clothing is such a shame when it can help so many others who have a need for it. I would encourage you to consider these ideas when it comes to cleaning out your closets. Clothing donations are a win-win situation for everyone.
